Where am I?  Awards - Assistant Teacher

Assistant Teacher

To provide the opportunity for club members who currently assist, or who would like to assist, with training to gain an initial training qualification with the aim of progressing to Trainer Assessor status when they have gained some experience.

Prerequisites: RLSS personal membership, 14 years old, held Bronze Medallion or NRASTC, and Life Support.

Candidates will prepare the following topics for a group of trainee lifesavers who have no prior knowledge of Lifesaving or Life Support.

  • 3 minute talk on water safety - at home, at the beach or at the pool.

  • 3 minute lifesaving session - reaching, wading or throwing rescue

  • 3 minute Life Support session- initial checks, shouting for help/giving instructions, making emergency phone call.

Candidates are required to attend: 4 hrs 45mins class room, 1hr 45min pool time
During which time the candidate must give a oral presentation, develop a scheme of work and lesson plans for 6 sessions, enact the scheme of work and associated lesson plans with a group no larger then 6.

This is a 'stand alone' Module. It is not a pre-requisite for the Trainer Assessor Scheme.
