Award of Merit

The aim of this award is to establish proficient levels of knowledge, understanding and practical ability in simulated open water rescue situations in a swimming pool.

Prerequisites: To hold or have held a Bronze Medallion or higher, current Life Support or higher, at least 14 years old on the date of assessment.

This award includes the following skills. Understanding of lifesaving, ability in rescue skills, awareness of own safety, checking responsiveness, sequence of life support, action for vomit, recovery position, cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), diagnosis and treatment of bleeding, choking and shock.
