Awards

We offer an extensive range of awards and qualifications for people of for all abilities and ages. They cover fitness, knowledge, skill and judgement when dealing with simulated incidents each of which require varying levels of proficiency.

Over 100,000 people undertake lifesaving skill training each year from children through to those of a specialist.

Rookie Lifeguard

The Rookie Lifeguard programme is the junior award scheme of the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK). The RLSS UK Rookie Programme is great fun and it has been designed specifically for 8-12 years old.

Bronze Medallion

Recognised as the flagship award for lifesaving. Assists in developing fitness, knowledge, skill and judgement. The candidate pack contains all the resources for the Bronze Medallion and Life Support training.

Award of Merit

This is a progression from the Bronze Medallion and requires a proficient level of knowledge, understanding and practical ability.

 

Distinction

This is a progression from Award of Merit and requires an excellent level of knowledge, understanding and practical ability.

National Pool Lifeguard Qualification

NPLQ is the most widely recognised lifeguard qualification in the UK & Ireland with over 33,300 lifeguards gaining the qualification each year.

 

Assistant Teacher

Age 14+. Ideal as an introduction into training for young adults. Course attendance followed by a moderation period.

 

Lifesaving 1, 2 & 3

These awards introduce the basic skills for lifesaving and is good preparation for those considering Bronze Medallion.
These awards also cover the GCSE Swimming requirements for PE as well as the Bronze level for the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.

 

Life Support

The aim is to train Basic Life Support including the diagnosis and treatment of choking, bleeding and shock to demonstrate competency at this level.

 

Life Support 3

The aim is to train Basic Life Support including the diagnosis and treatment of choking, bleeding, shock, drowning and hypothermia to demonstrate excellence at this level. This is the highest level of Life Support.

 

National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches

By acquiring this crucial endorsement of pool lifesaving expertise, you will not only be taking your responsibilities to the ultimate conclusion.
